The field of data analytics is exploding as more and more companies, government agencies and nonprofits seek to collect, mine and interpret data in order to make better decisions. A 2017 Business-Higher Education Forum report estimated that 2.35 million job postings in 2015 sought data analytics skills. Several studies have found a shortage of people with relevant skills.

Graduates pursue jobs in statistics, business intelligence reporting, data analysis, data mining and big data engineering, among others.
