Writing Portfolio

You will be required to complete a Writing Portfolio during your junior year.

The University Writing Portfolio consists of two academic texts you’ve written for college-level courses that demonstrate your best writing and some reflective questions regarding the two academic pieces you plan to submit. Starting October 2020, the University Writing Portfolio will be submitted online.

Once you have 60 semester credits, a Writing Portfolio Hold will be placed on your registration until the writing portfolio is completed. Note that the Writing Assessment Office is the only office with the ability to release your Writing Portfolio Holds. You need to work with their staff if you have questions or concerns regarding your Writing Portfolio at van.writingassessment@wsu.edu.

Scoring: The three possible outcomes for the Writing Portfolio are Pass, Pass with Distinction, or Needs Work. If you get a 'Needs Work' score, you will be required to complete an additional upper-division writing course. The only Writing Portfolio result that would be reported on your transcript would be "Pass with Distinction."
